PORTRAIT PITCH

In the entertainment industry, a "pitch" is a short description of a creative idea. A good pitch uses vivid, descriptive language and outlines the essence of a creative project in a way that might inspire potential investors to invest in a project or key decision makers to green light production. In this assignment I want you to pitch your idea for the Portrait Session assignment that will be due next week. Your portrait session will consist of 5-8 photos of one (1) person that show a range of different perspectives. Your portrait pitch should include:

A specific place you would like to photograph
A statement acknowledging that you have access to this location and have obtained any necessary permission(s)
Link(s) to a map entry and/or website related to your location are appreciated
A description of why you chose this location (convenience IS a valid reason)
The ideal time(s) of day to photograph the location and why
Whether or not you have confirmed someone as the subject of your portrait session

NOTE: All Portrait Sessions MUST be accompanied by a signed Image Release from the person being photographed. Students may find it convenient to coordinate with classmates to take photos of each other. If you wish to choose this option, please reach out to me by email to be paired with a classmate.

You should type your pitch into D2L similar to the way you submit weekly Discussion Forums. To receive full credit you should make a meaningful comment on at least two (2) of your classmates' posts. A meaningful comment is defined as 2-3 sentences that demonstrate clearly you have 1) read their original post in its entirety, and 2) you are responding to their thoughts and ideas in a clear and respectful way.
